Residential Treatment Programs
General Psychiatric Programs
Youth with emotional and behavioral disturbances between the ages
of 12-17, with an IQ of 75 or greater, will be considered for
these programs. The focus of treatment will be on rapid
assessments, the development of social, emotional, and coping
skills, intensive family therapy, substance abuse education, and
cognitive therapies to prepare youth for successful
re-integration back into the community.
Neurodevelopmental Programs
Youth with emotional and behavioral disturbances between the ages
of 12-17 who present with cognitive challenges ( IQ 60 or above),
learning disabilities, severe social and emotional skills
deficits, pervasive developmental disorders, neurologic
impairment, and/or a history of head trauma or brain insult
impairing their functioning will be considered for this program.
Youth will receive specialized
services as indicated, including but not limited to, QEEG
testing, neurofeedback therapy, audio-visual entrainment, speech
therapy, occupational therapy, and sensory integration therapy.
Children's Program
Youth with emotional, behavioral, and neurodevelopmental
disorders between the ages of 6-13 years, with an IQ of 60 or
greater, will be considered for this program. The focus of
treatment will be on rapid assessments, the development of
social, emotional, and coping skills, intensive family therapy,
and cognitive therapies to prepare youth for successful
re-integration back into the community. Youth will receive
specialized services as indicated, including but not limited to
QEEG testing, neurofeedback therapy, audio-visual entrainment,
speech therapy, occupational therapy, and sensory integration
therapy.
General Psychiatric Outdoor Program
Males with emotional and behavioral disturbances between the ages
of 13-17, with an IQ of 75 or greater, who have gained adequate
control of their behaviors on a locked unit but who still require
intensive work in the area of peer and social relationships in a
structured environment, will be considered for this step-down,
outdoor program. Youth who meet these criteria, and who
do not have a recent history of aggression or runaway may also be
admitted to this program from the community. The focus in
treatment will be the development of group process skills, social
skills in the community, assertiveness training, communication,
independent living skills, and intensive family therapy. The
youth participate in weekly community outings and an on campus
work studies program in preparation for their return to community
living.

out, may also be admitted to this program from the community. The
focus in treatment will be the development of group process
skills, social skills in the community, assertiveness training,
communication, and independent living skills. Youth will receive
specialized services as indicated, including but not limited to
QEEG testing, neurofeedback therapy, audio-visual entrainment,
speech therapy, occupational therapy, and sensory integration
therapy. Youth will participate in weekly community outings, off
campus 12 step groups, and an on campus work studies program in
preparation for their return to community living.
Gardens (Girls) and Ranch (Boys) Group Homes
Youth ages 14-18 years with a history of emotional and behavioral
disturbances and an IQ of 75 or greater, who are able to function
in a community setting, are eligible for these programs. Youth in
these programs live in a home setting, are enrolled in a public
school or a community GED program, and are encouraged to seek
gainful employment in the community. The focus in treatment will
be the development of group process skills, social skills in the
community, communication, independent living skills, and
intensive family therapy.
EXCEL Program
Males ages 12-17 years with an IQ of 75 or greater ,who are
court ordered to participate in an outdoor therapeutic program,
are eligible for admission to this program. Residents
participate in experiential, hands on learning in an outdoor
wilderness environment. The short term program (STP) serves as an
assessment program with an average length of stay is 30-90 days.
The focus in treatment is on : 1) cognitive restructuring
based on a 12 step Moral Recognition Therapy model, 2) group
process and dynamics, 3) the development of prosocial behaviors,
and 4) family therapy aimed at the successful re-integration of
the child into the family setting.
Angela's House
Females ages 12-17 years with a history of sexual exploitation
and an IQ of 75 or greater are eligible for this program. Girls
may also be court ordered from Fulton County to participate in
this program. The focus in treatment is on recovery from abuse,
empowerment, education regarding high risk behaviors, medical and
psychiatric assessment, substance abuse education, and intensive
family therapy aimed at successful re-integration of the youth
back into the family.
Focus Program: Male Sexual Behavior Program
Males with emotional and behavioral disturbances between the ages
of 12-17, with an IQ of 75 or greater and a history of sexual
perpetration or sexual disorders will be considered for this
program. Due to the complexity of the treatment process, the
minimum length of stay is generally 9 months, with a goal of 18
months as the maximum length of stay. The focus of treatment will
be on behavioral modification, addressing underlying psychiatric
symptoms, acknowledgement of the sexual disorder, disclosure,
cognitive restructuring, intensive family therapy, and the
development of skills necessary to reduce or eliminate their risk
of recidivism.
