Grants to Green
Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta awards grant to Youth Villages Inner Harbour Campus to "green up" facilities
The Grants to Green initiative is a partnership between the Community Foundation, Southface, and Enterprise Community partners to provide funding to nonprofits to "green up" their facilities. Nonprofits are able to renovate or build healthier work places that are more energy and water efficient, and eco-friendly.
In late 2008 the Community Foundation awarded a Grants to Green matching grant to Youth Villages Inner Harbour Campus to make energy-saving improvements to the facility. Upgrades to the campus include the following:
- Resetting and replacement of programmable thermostats
- Replacement and upgrading of lighting fixtures
- Installation of timers on fans
- Adjustment of the power save function on computers
- Installation of motion sensors and timers
- Added weather-stripping to doors and windows
- Improved insulation
- Replacement of inefficient HVAC systems with more energy efficient models
Youth Villages Inner Harbour Campus is excited to be a part of the Community Foundation's Grants to Green initiative, and is grateful for this support which enables us to upgrade and improve our facility.
