AMERICORPSAmeriCorps members come to Inner Harbour from all over the country. It offers a full time service opportunity for individuals committed to creating safe learning environments for youth experiencing behavioral and/or emotional challenges. As an AmeriCorps member, you will be presented with opportunities to engage youth who have otherwise experienced repeated failures and feelings of worthlessness with the traditional learning process. AmeriCorps members transfer student apathy into student engagement using a variety of approaches, including but not limited to: one-on-one tutoring, service learning, and experiential education. AmeriCorps members support groups of students in the implementation of a Service Learning project. The students plan, create, and complete a community service project of their own choosing, with the help of AmeriCorps members. Service Learning's "hands-on" approach exemplifies Inner Harbour's emphasis on experiential education, or "learning by doing". Inner Harbour AmeriCorps is committed to providing extensive leadership and professional development trainings to help prepare Corps members to be effective in their service and for their life after AmeriCorps. It is also our goal to foster the development of confidence & cooperation through the use of team building, ropes course initiatives, & group processing. For your service, you will receive:
